crepes w caramelised banana, syrup & cream // brioche french toast w ginger & brown sugar poached pears, vanilla mascarpone & walnuts
Sibling cafe to one of my favourites Dead Man Espresso in South Melbourne, Common Galaxia is a gorgeous little spot in Footscray.
The brioche french toast is delightful. I’ve been a little shameless, having had the one with chocolate drops & maple syrup at Oscar Cooper, the one with the biggest scoop of vanilla ice cream at South of Johnston, the one with butterscotch bananas and bacon at La Miel et La Lune, the one with a jar of creme anglaise at Madame Sousou, the one with spiced wine poached plums at Breakfast Thieves and the one with caramelised apples at Chez Dre and a simpler one at Penny Farthing in the past two months alone and can I say this is quite different to the others, in that it’s really quite eggy, moist, almost dainty with a soft fluffy bite, lightly dusted with sugar. Poached pears, with a vanilla bean flecked mascarpone and these divine candied walnuts.
The crepes, in contrast almost heartier than the french toast. With caramelised bananas tucked into their folds.
Topped off with the Seven Seeds house blend, it’s a no brainer.
