Richmond Hill Cafe & Larder
50 Bridge Road
I’ve been wanting to drop by RHCL a while now, god knows why it’s taken me so long given I used to frequent Bridge Road a fair bit. I am in love with their larder, in particular that cheese room.
The array of blues, had me vowing to relegate Prahran Market as my second port of call and to always stop by RHCL first. The vivid golden hue of that Shropshire - an organic cow’s milk cheese. Needless to say, one bite and I was ready to start with that. And it was every bit as perfect as it looked - delicate & light.
four hour braised pulled pork w bourbon bbq sauce on brioche // black angus burger w swiss cheese, desiree fat chips & rosemary salt // terrine
I went with the ham hock terrine with bites of apricot & parsley. The Maffra cheddar spread on the side was light & fluffy but I daresay that terrine on its own was a winner. With cornichons, beetroot relish and bread replaced the promised lavoche. In any case, I was far too occupied with the fruit loaf on the cheese board.
