I still drop by for yumcha occasionally, but it’s been a while since I’ve had dinner at Taipan. A glimmer of rainbow in my soup.

Oyster

I don’t understand why anyone would want to mask the fresh briny oyster flavour with this creamy mixture.

Pipa Roast Duck

The skin was so crispy, and the flesh was juicier and smoother than your average roast duck.

Fragrant fluffy grains. My next favourite dish after the roast duck.

The fish was fresh, covered in mushroom, beancurd skin and bitter gourd. I’m still waiting to acquire a taste for bitter gourd. I’ve always thought it as one of those things that I’ll love as I get older. I don’t foresee it happening anymore.

I recall this to be scallop & eye fillet. The eye fillet was quite rare on the inside.

Red bean soup, something I’ve grown up eating. A simple sweet I’m fond of, except when they have used mandarin peel.

Growing up, our family gatherings have always been in this setting - plenty of dishes to share in the middle. Perhaps this explains my fondness for tasting menus, I love having a little bit of everything. Taipan had a few standout dishes, namely the fried rice and the pipa roast duck.
