Pillar of salt; Richmond.

Pillar of Salt
541 Church Street

My fondness for Pillar of Salt extends beyond the fact that it’s a mere 5 minute drive from home, an ideal distance for a lazy Sunday brunch.

The outdoor courtyard is perfect on a hot sunny morning.

The front, temporarily abandoned in favour of the chance to soak up the sun out the back. As the cafe fills up, so does the inside.

The most enchanting hazelnut and cranberry muffin which my brunch companion adores and can never resist on her visits here.

Soy Latte

Hot and strong, a good pick me up.

The Daily Tart with Dressed Greens & Bitter Leaves ($12)

Caramelised onions, mushrooms & goat’s cheese is the tart of the day.

Presented here in all it’s glory.

Spiced Fish Taco - Avocado Salsa, Coriander, Lime

The fish was beautifully fresh and its sweetness was complimented by the tang of the tomato and onion and the creaminess of the avocado in the salsa, but I wasn’t sure about the accompanying sauce which reminded me of a smooth pesto.

I’ll definitely be back for a coffee and a muffin, with my new Kindle in tow.
