Corn on the cob with a twist.

1/11 Collins Street

Mamasita perpetually has a long line waiting to get in night after night.

I have to be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of Mamasita. The dishes I had were good but not great.

Elotes Callejeroes - “Street Style” Chargrilled Corn with Queso, Chipotle Mayonnaise & Lime ($4.4)

My favourite dish, corn on the cob coated with the most delicious mayo with queso shavings and tangy lime. I wish the corn was crunchier.

Tacos de Camarones - Marinated prawns with Habanero Chillies & Chipotle Almond Salsa ($7 each or $18 for 3)

These delicious prawns were beautifully crunchy but there was far too much of the soft taco wrap.

Tostaditas de Carnitas - Slow Braised Pork Shoulder with Encurtidos & Jalapenos ($14)

The pulled pork was quite dry.

Bunuelos de Garbanzos - Chick Pea Fritters, Field Mushrooms, Sweet Potato & Jalapeno Herb Sauce ($18)

This was surprisingly quite delicious. I loved the juicy mushrooms and the spicy sauce.

Quesadillas de Queso - 2 Cheeses & Jalapeno Salsa ($10)

Good Mexican Tapas at reasonable prices but I still walked away feeling dissatisfied. I don’t know if it’s worth queueing up for each and every time.
