Madison Square Park (Note: Not Madison Square Garden)
Everytime I find myself at Madison Square Park, there are massively long queues. Shake Shack first opened up here in 2004, but has since opened up a bevy of stores all over Manhattan and in other States. Thumbs up for burgers made from 100% all natural Angus beef, with no hormones or antibiotics.
I stumbled upon the recently opened Shake Shack located in Upper West Side.
Shake Shack runs like a smooth well oiled machine.
Single Shack Burger - American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickles, Onions and Shack Sauce ($4.5) and Cheese Fries - Topped with Shack Cheddar and American Cheese Sauce ($3.65)
Beautifully vibrant colours, juicy moist Angus beef covered in ooey gooey tasty cheese, sandwiched by soft golden buns, accompanied with bright green lettuce, juicy red tomatoes, tangy pickles and crisp onion shavings. It was really good and incredibly more-ish. The crinkle cut fries were crunchy and golden and went beautifully with the creamy cheesy sauce. They also claim the fries are 100% free of artificial trans fat.
Shroom Burger - Crispy-fried portobello filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato and Shake Sauce ($6.5) and Shake-cago Dog - Vienna all-beef dog on a potato bun topped with Shake Shack relish, onion, cucumber, pickle, tomato, pepper, celery salt and mustard ($4)
The Shroom burger (vegetarian) was just as good as the Shake Shack burgers. The moist juicy portobello mushroom was covered in gooey cheese and encased in a crispy crunchy batter. Shake-cago dog was tangy with pickles and a mound of onions but I still preferred the burgers.
We also tried one of their Concretes (dense frozen custard blended at a high speed with toppings) - the Shack Attack comprising of Chocolate Custard, Hot Fudge, Chocolate Truffle Cookie Dough and Valrhona Chocolate Chunks, topped with Chocolate sprinkles ($6.5). Creamy, crunchy, smooth, velvety, icy cold and perfect to wash down an equally delicious burger.
Shake Shack is fun and buzzy, has gorgeous mouth-watering burgers that leave you with a good feeling afterwards.
